Accessibility & non-discrimination

Violet Crown Analytics is committed to a website that everyone can use, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or captions. Accessibility isn’t a feature here; it’s the build standard.

This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. In practice that means, among other things:

• Text and background colors that meet contrast requirements
• Every page navigable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator
• Meaningful alternative text on images
• Form fields with visible, programmatic labels
• A logical heading structure on every page
• Text that scales to 200% without breaking the layout

The same standard applies to every website VCA builds for clients. Grant funders increasingly require it, boards check for it, and it’s simply the right way to build.

Non-discrimination, and the work we decline

Violet Crown Analytics welcomes clients, collaborators, and readers of every race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, and veteran status.

We decline work that promotes discrimination, that targets people for who they are or where they were born, or that treats any group of people as a problem to be managed. That is a standing condition rather than a case-by-case judgment, and it applies to organizations we would otherwise be glad to work with. It has cost us work and it will again.

Our clients do not all sit on the same side of every argument, and that is deliberate. What they have in common is that they serve people, that they are honest about who they serve, and that they want the numbers to be true even when the true number is smaller than the one they hoped for.
